Mission
The New American Horizons Foundation seeks to expand opportunity for immigrants in the United States. To enable immigrants to participate fully in their new society, the Foundation focuses on making English as a Second Language courses more widely available and affordable.
The Adult ESL Training Video Project
A major obstacle to affordable, accessible ESL classes for adult immigrants is the shortage of well-trained ESL teachers. As its first project, the Foundation aims to enhance the development of teachers through the creation of a series of training videos, Teaching ESL to Adults: Classroom Approaches in Action. The project team includes MaryAnn Florez and Betsy Parrish, who are leaders in adult ESL teacher training.
As of March 2010, the first volume of two videos is available. Two other volumes, with three videos each, will be produced later in 2010. Videos are available:
